On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Border Security Alliance sounds the Alarm on Drug-Laced Vapes & the Threat to American Kids

WASHINGTON – Border Security Alliance President Jobe Dickinson issued the following statement marking May 9th as National Fentanyl Awareness Day and raising the alarm about the deadly threat lurking in illicit Chinese-made vapes marketed to kids and flooding the U.S. market:

“On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, it is imperative that all Americans, especially parents, understand the lethal danger facing young people as a result of the fentanyl crisis,” said Dickinson. “New data released this week shows an alarming surge in fentanyl-related deaths among children. What is particularly frightening is that kids are unknowingly consuming fentanyl through innocent-looking, sugary-flavored illicit disposable vapes.

“China is playing a huge and sinister role in getting fentanyl produced in Mexico, trafficked over our open borders, and distributed in our communities. They now have a ready-made way to get it directly into the hands of kids with illicit candy-flavored disposable vapes. As we near the expiration of Title 42, it has never been more urgent for the Biden administration to stop the flow of fentanyl over the border and crack down on the sale of illicit, Chinese-made vapes marketed to minors. Today should not only bring awareness to the fentanyl crisis, but serve as a call to action.”
