Border Security Alliance Statement on Democratic Party Chair Raquel Terán’s Support to Defund the Police

Phoenix, AZ— The Border Security Alliance (BSA) vehemently opposes dangerous policies like the one Democratic Party Chair Raquel Terán supports to Defund the Police.

In an interview with Brahm Resnik on Sunday Square Off, Terán refused to denounce anti-police efforts, saying she supports “reimagining how we use the resources in our community.” As anyone who has followed the debates on police funding over the last few years can attest, when activists talk about “re-imagining” law enforcement, they really mean “Defunding the Police.”

BSA understands that law enforcement is a trusted partner in protecting local communities. By not supporting our law enforcement, Arizona communities will continue to see a surge in violence, homelessness, and crime. Sound public policies are essential in combating increased criminal activity due to failed border and law enforcement policies. BSA will continue to advocate for good policies to safeguard our communities and denounce bad policies that pose a threat.

“Bad border policies and ‘Defund the Police’ style politics are overwhelming our already understaffed and under-resourced law enforcement. Arizonans deserve better than elected officials and party leaders that promote dangerous policies that threaten our community,” said Jobe Dickinson, President of BSA.
